I believe that in the modern times, Harishchandra’s story from Hindu Mythology becomes more relevant from the viewpoint of perseverance. One might argue to it’s impractical to give away everything that one owns, especially one’s kingdom and family, to keep his word to an ascetic, but the power of this story lies in its symbolism.
